Individual Counselling

Individual counselling offers a space to pause and focus on what’s happening in your life, internally and externally, without pressure to have clear answers right away.

People often begin counselling because something feels off. You may be overwhelmed, emotionally drained, stuck in familiar patterns, or struggling to cope with stress, anxiety, or change. Counselling provides time and support to explore these experiences with care, clarity, and respect.
Sessions are available in person in Saanich and online across British Columbia.
What Individual Counselling Can Help With
Individual counselling can support you in working through a wide range of concerns, including:
-
Anxiety, panic, and chronic worry
-
Burnout, overwhelm, and emotional exhaustion
-
Difficulty regulating emotions or tolerating distress
-
Depression, low mood, or emotional numbness
-
Life transitions and decision-making
-
Family or relationship stress
-
Chronic health challenges and ongoing pain
-
Grief and non-death losses
Some clients arrive with a specific concern. Others are seeking space to reflect, slow down, and better understand themselves. Both are welcome.
What to Expect
In the early sessions, we focus on getting a clear sense of what brings you to counselling and what you’re hoping for. This may involve exploring current stressors, patterns in thoughts or emotions, or past experiences that continue to shape how you feel and respond.
Sessions move at a pace that feels manageable. Some days may focus on insight and reflection. Others may focus on practical coping strategies you can use in daily life. Over time, many clients notice increased clarity, steadiness, and confidence in how they respond to challenges.
You won’t be pushed to share more than you’re ready to.
How Sessions Work
Individual counselling sessions are 50 minutes and are tailored to your needs and goals. Counselling may be short-term and focused on a specific issue, or longer-term if you’re working through more complex or ongoing concerns.
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred therapy, mindfulness-based practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). The focus shifts based on what feels most helpful for you.
A Supportive, Collaborative Process
Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in understanding your experiences more fully, identifying what matters to you, and building tools that align with your values.
Many clients find that individual counselling helps them feel more grounded, less reactive, and better equipped to navigate both everyday stress and larger life transitions.
